Black Moonstone has a strong energy to aid you to connect to the Divine Feminine during meditation. Like the lovely rainbow crystals they resonate within the highest chakras, which may assist with the development of psychic gifts. Their vibration is effective within the navel chakra to help with the emergence of fresh and novel ideas.

These crystals are unusual, because although they look like they are colored black at first glance, when they are moved they have a lovely silver grey sheen.

Many of these dark stones have peach lines through them, and like many peach colored stones they are associated with the sacral or navel chakra.  They also make a good connection within the base and earth chakras to stimulate grounding and give protection.

Moonstones have been in use for over a thousand years. We know that because jewelry that uses these stones has been found, that dates as far back as the Roman Empire.

They are a type of Labradorite that were named for the fact that the flashes within the stone reminded people of how the moon looked when it was full.

The black stones are not as well known as the beautiful rainbow crystals, but since they were discovered are becoming more popular and are in wider use.

As well as the black stones which are the focus of this page, there are also a number of other colors of Moonstone, including white, blue, pink, peach, apricot, gray and green moonstone.

There are two different darker varieties of Moonstone. Ones like those in the picture below come  from India and Madagascar.

As well there is another gorgeous variety called Larvikite, the lovely dark Moonstone from Norway.
